Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern access to and use of veref.work and the Veref platform (the “Service”) provided by Veref Ltd (“Veref”). By accessing the Service you agree to these terms.

Accounts

An account is required to access the Veref platform. Customers must keep their account credentials secure and are responsible for all activity under their account.

Acceptable use

  • Do not use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose.
  • Do not attempt to reverse engineer or circumvent the Service’s verification controls.
  • Do not use Veref to make automated adverse decisions about candidates in violation of the EU AI Act or other applicable law.
  • Do not upload personal data unlawfully or without a valid legal basis.

Customer commitments

Customers commit to keeping a human in the decision loop for every candidate-affecting outcome produced by the Service, and to providing candidates with the transparency required under the EU AI Act, UK GDPR, and other applicable law.

Fees and billing

Fees are billed per plan and per candidate as set out in the customer’s order form. Fees are non-refundable except as expressly set out in the order form or required by law.

Service availability

Veref targets 99.9% monthly uptime for the platform. Service credits are available under the terms set out in the applicable Service Level Agreement.

Intellectual property

Veref retains all rights to the Service. Customers retain all rights to their data. Candidates retain ownership of their Veref Passport data.

Confidentiality

Each party agrees to protect the confidential information of the other and to use it only for the purposes of performing under these terms.

Warranties and liability

The Service is provided on an as-is basis to the extent permitted by law. Each party’s liability is capped at the fees paid in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Termination

Either party may terminate for material breach if the breach is not cured within 30 days of written notice. On termination, Veref will return or delete customer data in accordance with the Data Processing Addendum.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of London have exclusive jurisdiction.
